Local Sports Teams
San Diego professional and college sports teams are some of the best in the country — our local teams often quality for playoffs and championships. San Diego has several year round outside venues including Petco Park in downtown San Diego and Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.
The San Diego Padres play in downtown Petco Park Stadium that opened in 2005. It is an intimate, modern and yet traditional baseball stadium, nestled within the Gaslamp Quarter near the Convention Center and the harbor. Baseball fans are thrilled to experience close views of the game and the vistas of the surrounding beauty of downtown.
The San Diego Chargers play in the Mission Valley Qualcomm Stadium that was previously named Jack Murphy Stadium. It was home to Superbowl 37 in 2003.
The San Diego State University Aztecs football team play in Qualcomm stadium. The other teams (baseball, basketball, tennis, etc.) play in various stadiums throughout the campus.
San Diego Padres – San Diego's professional baseball team. The Padres baseball stadium is in downtown San Diego.
San Diego Chargers – San Diego's professional football team. The Chargers Qualcomm Stadium is in San Diego mission valley.
San Diego State University Aztecs – San Diego State University sports teams including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and others. The Aztecs teams have several stadiums and venues they use for the various sports.
